The latest and greatest

We have certainly kept ourselves busy since Clay was born about six weeks ago. This weekend Clayton was blessed at our Church. We were lucky to have Corbett & Chrissy's parents in town as well as Chrissy's brother, Nathan, and his family. The picture below shows the grandparents with the new parents.

And here is a picture of the Jackson 4...

We are participating in the
YES on Proposition 8 campaign by knocking doors and making phone calls to educate people. For all Californians this is an issue that will be on the ballot on November 4th. Proposition 8 places into the California Constitution the same language that voters passed by 61% of the voters in 2000. This is necessary to overturn a California Supreme Court decision that overturned Proposition 22.Proposition 8 is simple and straightforward. It reads: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

We are voting YES on “8” and are involved in the campaign because we feel that traditional marriage and family are the fabric of society. Another reason is for our children. Proposition 8 protects our children from being taught in public schools that “same-sex marriage” is the same as traditional marriage. Proposition 8 does not take away any rights from gay and lesbian domestic partners. Gays and lesbians in California can already enjoy all the legal rights and benefits of marriage. The California Family Code says, “domestic partners shall have all the rights, protections and benefits” of married spouses. There are NO exceptions to this. Proposition 8 will not change that.

Hey Corbett and Chrissy we are volunteering too! Stakes in Idaho have been asked to make phone calls to Californians. They asked for 15,000 member volunteers to make phone calls and in 4 days they already had 21,000 volunteers and they hadn't even asked Rexburg, Pocatello, or the Idaho Falls area. That should be another 15,000. Pretty cool. Derek and I haven't made phone calls yet but we're on the list. Thanks for the extra information!

I'm glad you got to have both of your parents there for the blessing. The Jackson 4 look beautiful! Are you guys going to Oregon for either Christmas or Thanksgiving? We are going for Christmas and that'd be great to see you!

Hope you're having a great week!

Corbett and Krissy, good for you! You're doing a great thing. Take a look at my friends statements about this on his family blog. I think he makes some good arguments:
